The 2019 release of AutoCAD R14 will come with the following new features:

NoahFX R14 includes the introduction of a new way to animate 2D Drafting views.

Data management is improved with the ability to create and manage custom user groups and user accounts.

The new AutoCAD 3D can be used as a component of AutoCAD R14.

R14: New Product Features

Intersection Editing has been significantly enhanced for 3D solids and 2D Drafting views.

Printing has been improved for all views and can now also support printing to PDFs.

Enhanced 3D workspaces have been introduced for managing 3D content including the ability to slice and join 3D solids.

New features have been added to the drawing canvas and layer toolbars. These include the ability to hide the drop-down list, dynamically adjust the workspace zoom level and position, and toggle image matching.

The New Visual Styles have been updated to include a new visual style for 3D wireframes and a new visual style for 3D solid models. The 3D wireframe visual style includes the ability to view wireframe lines.

The new 2D Drafting view has been expanded to include the ability to slice and join 2D solids, along with the ability to display the vertex count for 3D solids.

The data management tools have been expanded for new features including a new user group tool that can be used to create custom user groups.

The 2D Drafting Views have been enhanced to include the ability to select the vertex count in the bottom right corner of the view.

AutoCAD 3D has been introduced as a standalone product in AutoCAD 2019. This release also introduces the ability to create and customize AutoCAD extensions in 3D.

Time complexity of dividing by a fixed power of two

I am not an expert in the complexity of floating point operations, but I have been thinking about this for a while.
One way to divide n by a power of two is to take the log2 of n and multiply by a constant. This constant has the advantage of being constant in terms of the number of decimal digits of n. However, there are many constants which are more efficient, since the log2 of n takes a larger number of operations.
So if you are working in floating point and want to quickly compute x/2^N for some x and N, is it better to work directly with the input values as in:
x = x * (1/2^N)
y = x / 2^N

or is it better to take the log2 of x and multiply by a constant, as in:
x = 2^N * log2(x)
y = 2^N * log2(x)/N

Is there any good reason to prefer one method over the other, and if so, why?
